Fabien Banciryanino, an impartial MP elected in Bubanza constituency, says 21 investigated instances of individuals killed and enforced disappearances have been reported in Mpanda and Gihanga communes of Bubanza province within the west of Burundi from January 2016 to February 2020.
“I performed deep investigations of their localities and found that some had been killed and others are victims of enforced disappearances,” says Banciryanino, including that the newest case of a disappeared individual was reported in Gihanga commune on 24 February 2020.
He says these killings and enforced disappearances are associated to politics. “Nearly all of the victims are political opponents from the CNL occasion,” he says.
MP Banciryanino additionally says the executive and judicial officers from these localities are conscious of these instances.
“I reported these instances however no investigation has up to now been performed,” he says.
MP Banciryanino additionally says he submitted a correspondence to the general public prosecutor’s division for investigation on March 24.
“I consider that the general public prosecutor’s workplace will conduct severe investigation and permit the victims’ kinfolk to mourn,” he says.
Jean Claude Nsengiyumva, Prosecutor in Bubanza province says the correspondence has been obtained. “The Justice of the Peace who has the file will summon MP Fabien Banciryanino as quickly as doable for extra particulars,” he says.
